New Year's Resolution

I've never been one to make New Year's Resolutions. One: they have always made my OCD and perfectionism feel a tad bit overwhelmed by the undertaking of some crazy task and then not being able to follow through with whatever it was. Two: because of all that, I never keep them.

They always have made me kind of crazy in that sense, but this year I wanted to try something new. I'm feeling REALLY excited about it too! I really wanted to do something manageable, something I could actually finish, and something that I can be proud of myself for (and have fun in the process of completing too!).

Sure, there are plenty of things that I want to add to a To-Do list, but I am steering clear of making one of those for myself and setting myself up for failure from the start of 2014. My resolution is something to keep me on track with finding my happy. And just thinking about it is making me excited!

On my birthday, I was reading Facebook posts, blog posts, and tweets about resolutions. I kept wondering, what on Earth would I choose for mine if I had one? The thought made me freak out a bit. What could I choose?

Well, I happened upon my lovely friend Amy's blog The Art of Teaching. She is a dear friend of mine and wrote a lovely post about resolutions. She chose one thing to focus on this year for her resolution. Last year she wanted to use the library more, and she did. This year, her goal is to perfect making macarons! How fun!!

This is my kind of resolution!! Something fun. Something manageable. I wanted to share her post because it inspired me to make my resolution, so hopefully, it can inspire you to find something you love that you've been waiting to try for yours!

My resolution for this year is to art journal more. I have been doing some art journals here and there, but I haven't put the effort or the time into journaling that I would have liked.

My resolution is to art journal at least once every month. I can do that. And it will make me so happy! I LOVE doing artsy things, and I just haven't been lately. I can't wait to start! I have so many great ideas! Here are some of my favorites from my Pinterest board Art Journal Fun:

As you read a book you write down your favorite quotes from it.

I am definitely going to journal at least once before I head back to work on Monday! Anyone else have a new year's resolution?
